DOCTRINE STATEMENT

We believe in God the Father, Creator of the heavens and earth, who prepared this life for us and beckons us into His future.

We believe in God’s only Son, Jesus Christ, who was sent to provide for us an access to the fullness of God.  Only through Him is eternal life possible, and then to everyone who receives him as Savior and Lord.

We believe in God’s Holy Spirit, given by Jesus Christ to all His people as a source of strength until His return.  We believe in the gifts the Spirit brings as a sign of His presence with an emphasis on no particular gift, but openness to all of them.  Only as individuals allow the Spirit to work in a particular way through their lives is the church all that God intends it to be.

We believe that the Bible, God’s Holy Word, sets the pace and standard for living.  It is the final authority for us as a rule of “faith and practice.”

In the family of Jesus, we want to avoid arguing or disputing over minor doctrinal matters.  If you have questions regarding what is taught in a Bible class, please discuss the matter with the teacher.

VISION

A Ministry of the Gateway Community Chruch

Habakkuk 2:2

Then the Lord replied:  “Write down the VISION and make it plain on tablets so that whoever hears it may run with it.”

Proverbs 29:18a
“Where there is no VISION, the people perish (cast off restraint).”

Operate a school system that supports God’s holy institutions without competing with them.  (i.e. family, church)

  • The institution of the FAMILY
    • By assisting in the education of it’s children
    • From a Christian world view (Col. 2:3)
      • By using the best Christian curriculum
      • By strengthening students’ love and respect for their parents (Eph. 6:1-3)
    • By making every effort not to compete with families for their children’s time, by excessive homework or mandatory extracurricular activities
  • The institution of the CHURCH
    • By reinforcing the essential teachings of the Church
      • The Bible is God’s Word (2 Tim. 3:15-17)
      • Jesus is God’s Son, equal with God the Father.  He is our only way to God the Father.  (John 14:6)
      • We are saved by grace and not by works. (Eph. 2:8-9)
      • We must individually receive Jesus to have eternal life.  (John 1:12)
    • By strengthening students’ love and respect for their church and its leaders (1 Tim. 5:17)
    • By making every effort not to compete for students’ church time by mandatory or voluntary weekend or evening programs

Operate and open enrollment school.  (Unchurched children are encouraged to attend.)

  • We are to MAKE disciples.  (Matt. 28:19a)
  • We are to increase, not maintain.
    • The parable of the unfruitful branch (John 15:1-2)
    • The parable of the buried talent (Matt. 25:14-30)
  •  We are to maintain a positive (Christian) peer pressure.  (Rom. 12:21)
    • As agents of each student’s parents and God, we will discipline any students that are disruptive.  (Heb. 12:5-11)
    • As agents of each class’s parents and God, we will dismiss any students that are disruptive and do not respond to discipline.

Operate on multiple campuses in the Hammond, Astoria, and Seaside area with a centrally located high school.
